About Dry Fruits & Nutrition
It depends on the type. Almonds, walnuts, and anjeer benefit from overnight soaking — it improves digestion and nutrient absorption. Cashews, pistachios, and peanuts are best eaten dry-roasted or natural. Seeds like chia must be soaked, while flax seeds should be ground for best results.
Peanuts lead with approximately 26g protein per 100g, followed by almonds (21g), pistachios (20g), and cashews (18g). Among seeds, pumpkin seeds offer around 30g per 100g. For a high-protein daily mix, combine peanuts, almonds, and pumpkin seeds.
Yes — most dry fruits are excellent during pregnancy. Almonds provide folic acid, walnuts offer omega-3 for brain development, and dates provide natural energy and iron. Anjeer helps with digestion. Consult your doctor for specific dietary advice and recommended daily portions.
Morning on an empty stomach is ideal for soaked almonds, walnuts, and anjeer. Mid-morning or pre-workout works well for dates, makhana, and trail mixes. Evening snacking suits roasted cashews, peanuts, and flavoured makhana. Avoid eating large quantities right before bed.
A healthy daily intake is 30-40 grams total — roughly a small handful. This might include 5-8 almonds, 2-3 walnuts, 2-3 dates, and a few cashews. Adjust based on your calorie needs and activity level. Moderation is key, as dry fruits are nutrient-dense but also calorie-rich.
